Further to our previous warning about threatening of strike by truck drivers, indeed, truck drivers ended-up calling strike last week which has been affecting arrival of cargoes not only at SANTOS port but also on some other Brazilian port.
FYI, truck drivers have been making sudden pickets/protests on the main roads/highways and obstructing same in attempt to avoid passage of cargoes to the ports.
As previously mentioned, such protests should just be suspended in case ANNT (National Agency of Shore Transports) decides to revoke the resolutions that alter the way of the hiring of shore freight. Furthermore, the category still wants to negotiate with the Government the postponement for 1 year of the law n. 12.619 which establishes the control of their working journey (day's work). Useful to point out that with the implementation of such law, the police will start fining the truck drivers who do not comply with 11 hours of uninterrupted resting. Besides, such law also demands a stoppage on their duties/tasks on every 4 hours.
We will be following-up the above issue very closely and reverting on developments.
