Glad to inform the strike by Stevedores of Santos harbor has been finalized/ended-up after almost 30 hours of paralyzation.
The laborers/stevedores resumed their activities normally yesterday (May 15th) as from 19:00Hrs. LT.
Such paralyzation was organized by the Syndicate of the Stevedores against the Federal Government due to sudden changes on the new port law (MP 595) which disengage the employment of laborers affiliated to the Syndicate of the Stevedores by the private terminals.
Therefore, according to the new port law (MP 595), laborers affiliated to the Syndicate of the Stevedores will just be able to be engaged on the public berths/piers.
As a consequence, the Syndicate of the Stevedores should proceed with a court order against such decision in due course in an attempt to alter such scenario. In case of failure, further protests/mobilizations should occur/arise from their side.
We will be keeping an open eye on any further news/developments!
