As just confirmed by local ruling Port Authorities, the emergency dredging works at the access canal of Santos harbor were begun on last Saturday. Such works are required due to the fact that on such region/section, ranged between the entrance of the port and about shed n. 39, is no longer deepened as it should i.e. it is shallower which led to the necessity of the decrease of the drafts on such area by DOCK Co.. As a consequence, for the time being, just vessels with draft of 12,30 m. (at Low tide) and up to 13,30 m. (at High tide) are able to enter into Santos harbor.
Upon the conclusion of the aforementioned works, a new bathymetry will be performed in order to evaluate the results of such job which will be conveyed to the Navy for its appreciation and decision of whether or not it will be in conditions to return to the previous drafts of 13,20 m. (at Low tide) and up to 14,20 m. (at High tide).
Regarding developments on the balance jobs i.e. dredging of the "evolutions basins" and the "own piers", DOCK Co. will be publishing an edictal within next month for the specialized companies interested on such jobs. Consequently, the opening of the proposals shall occur within the month of March. Full scope of such jobs expected within a range of 3 years.
