GRAIN AND DERIVATIVES LEAD BRAZILIAN SHIPMENTS

As usual, the "soya complex" (including grain, meal and oil) was fundamental for the increase in Brazilian agribusiness exports in April. In total, according to data from the Secretariat of Foreign Trade (Secex / Mdic) compiled by the Ministry of Agriculture, the shipments generated US $ 8.7 billion, 7.3% more than in April 2016. Driven by demand from China, sales of oilseed and its derivatives abroad reached US $ 4.6 billion, 12.6% more than in April 2016. In the first four months of this year, foreign sales of Brazilian agribusiness also showed a positive result: they grew 3.8% over the same period of 2016, to US $ 29.2 billion. Shipments of the "soya complex" increased 23% to US $ 11.3 billion, and sugar and ethanol rose 27% to $ 3.4 billion.
